February?! Where did January go??
Wow- with 2015 in full swing, there is a lot to chat about in this month’s SP Insider!
The NSW Swifts have had a solid preseason, with a lot of fitness and strength work, and not sure whether its cause I’ve hit the 30’s, but I think its been one of the most intense and toughest preseasons I have endured- but all in a positive way. I am feeling fitter and stronger then I have in all my career, so I’m very excited to kick start this 2015 campaign.
With 24 days to go until the first match of 2015 for the Swifts, we are now fine tuning our netball skills and knuckling down on the tactical and combination work to put ourselves in the best position possible.
I have also just finished a grueling week camp with the Australia Diamonds where we came into camp in Sydney and had a simulation camp to mirror that of the upcoming World Cup in August. So we practiced training at particular times, eating at certain times of the day and in general getting a feel of the new courts and the surrounding environment that the team will face come August. It was also a great opportunity for the squad to get together and hit the court to impress selectors and work on combinations that we don’t get many opportunities to do from now until final selections in June.
With the official “preseason” and Aussie camp behind us now, its now time to turn my complete attention to my beloved NSW Swifts and the 2015 campaign. I have been playing with the Swifts for the past 10 years and it is my home, I love donning the red dress and getting out there to represent NSW. With each year that ticks by many think I would not get as excited or overwhelmed by the occasion, but I can tell you with complete honestly, that each year I think it becomes even more exciting, even more special. As you grow older the opportunities you are given and then memories and moments that I get to encounter and create make you appreciate it more and more.
This 2015 team is special, there is a vibe around the club that is something different to previous years and there is a drive within each player to push one another to the limit, to challenge our comfort zone and work hard for not only ourselves but for one another. I am super excited for the season to kick start and share this special group with the netball world, in particular our amazing NSW Swifts members and fans.
If you are lucky enough to be in the Sydney area this weekend, you might get to share this excitement with me and my Swifts girls at the preseason Summer Shoot Out, where all 10 teams will be, hitting out on the new Netball Central courts, putting in the final touches to their team 2015 campaigns.
I AM EXCITED!
On top of the playing side of my netball life, there is also the off court side of my netball life- SP Netball. Which I am always to excited to get out to the netball clubs and players and share with them my experiences, skills and hopefully inspire them to work towards their dreams, just I did when I was there age and continue to do today.
I have many clinics already booked in for the next few months, so check it out at www.spnetball.com/clinics and come along, learn new skills and have some fun with me. I have an exciting new 2015 program with new drills, skills and games to share with you. Cant wait to see out at your local netball courts!
So with the season just around the corner, I am back to training and getting ready to hit the courts in 26 days! See you on court!
